Cyclodextrins based delivery systems for macro biomolecules

Macro biomolecules are of vital importance in regulating the biofunctions organisms, which proteins (including peptides when mentioned below) and nucleic acids (NAs) most important. Therefore, these NAs can be applied as “drugs” to regulate from abnormal normal. Either for NAs, challenging thing is avoid biodegradation or physicochemical degradation before they reach targeted location, then functions complete functional structures. Hence, appropriate delivery systems very important protect them degradations. Cyclodextrins (CDs) based achieved mega successes due their outstanding pharmaceutical properties there have been several reviews on CDs small molecule drug recently. But biomolecules, getting more modern therapies, however, few systematically summarize analyze CDs-based macro systems, especially proteins. In this review, were some notable examples summarized (proteins NAs) CDs. For proteins, review included insulin, lysozyme, bovine serum albumin (BSA), green fluorescent protein (GFP) IgG’s, etc. deliveries slow release, stimulating responsive release targeting manners. cationic CD-polymers CD-cluster monomers carriers, notably, including multicomponents CD-based carriers virus-like RNA assembly method siRNA carriers.
